BANGALORE: City-based ValuePoint Systems, an IT solutions firm sets up a fully equipped offshore development centre for a leading Wall Street firm.
Another IT solutions company, Vitage is doing the same for US IT firms like Professional Access, Juniper Networks, etc.
Yet another firm Frontier Business Systems is into providing IT infrastructure and management for PSUs like Bangalore Mahanagar Palika (BMP), BHEL among others.
Today, a slew of new value firms like ValuePoint Systems, Frontier, Vitage, Business Links, PC Solutions, Micro Care, Cash Peripherals are taking on the IBMs and HCLs and Wipro Infotechs of the IT services world.

Says R S Shanbag, Director, Valuepoint Systems, which is inaugurating its new office on Wednesday, "Today, everyone wants things done in shorter time frame. Not only do they ask for networking and computing power but the whole works which also include recruitment of personnel too."
Companies like these, with around 300-plus staff are known for their nimble footed efficiency and other innovative strategies bordering heavily on loyalty programmes. "For instance, we offer incentives like employee purchase plans and annual maintenance contracts (AMCs) to our customers like Air Deccan or Macmillan to retain customer loyalty," says Sampath, another director of ValuePoint Systems.

Interestingly, these companies are also premium partners of software leaders like HP, IBM, Sun and others.
According to Ravi Verdese, director, Frontier Business Systems which has an alliance with IBM India," We do compete with IBM Global services too but you should keep that this market is growing and if you specialise in niche areas, you can hold your own." Not content with providing IT solutions, maintenance plays a key role in their business models too.
"We also have our staff on our customer premises- this gives the customers a higher level of confidence and enables us to offer 24/7 assistance too," adds A. Gururaj, senior vice president, ValuePoint Systems.
And, it is just not IT companies that ask for this type of management. "We are providing and maintaining a complete wireless networking solution for the fresh fruit and vegetable chain, Namdaris which has a huge farm in the outskirts of Bangalore," says Alton Viegas, director, Vitage Systems.
